At first when you read the history of Thyatria there doesn’t seem so much to see. It seems a small and innocent town and the message to be to a christian church of standing. Once you glean between the lines and delve deeper there awaits a plethora of spirutal gems.
This brings us to Mindset of Mysticism, folklore and shallow entertainment, or The Angel of Mysticism.
We have already seen and we will see more of the great leaders of the mindsets of men in the other mindsets but not here. Here we see the depth of mysticism upon which all ideas of mankind grow up from.
The common man who doesn’t bother to connect the dots, doesn’t wish to understand complicated or deep wisdom.
The person who works with his hands or simple methods of mind, following the wisdom of the pop culture he or she belongs to and turns to various sources for answers to his questions, either to seek soothing answers or egotistical justifications for his meagre worldview.
Here we find the mindset of the Sanctimonious egos, of the Mystical spirituality, of the Motivational speaker, the cult of the New Age, various streams of Self empowerment, practices of Magic and the Occult; or simply popular psychology.
The steamy pot of the conjurer of ideas or the simple witchcraft of fortune telling, the shallow prophets who claim to have some understanding from the Divine Eternal but turn out to be seekers of communal respect from the workers of the guilds in the metropolis.
None of them providing any new or deeper insight into the eternal. None of the leading to inspire you for the benefit of your soul, but quick to fill their purses.
All of this is defined in the small city of guilds. We find in Thyatira the small people, the small industry of peoples simple trades, the backbone of the commerce in larger towns, the people who work in their sweats, laboring for simple means and represent the grassroots of the whole of humanity.
Here you don’t find the large and grand temples or libraries or great work of art. Here you won’t see the grand palaces of the super rich and their political puppets. But we find also in the roots of Pelopia the honest heart, the confusion when tricked and abused by those supposed to love us and protect us. And we find in the heart of many simple people the whithering flame of integrity and honor.
Here you find the mindset of the people who were chained to the TV stations of their time. Readers of the tabloids and the unhappy streaming to stadiums to hear motivational speakers of self empowerment or pentacostal preachers. You find here the idolatry of the ego.
{2:18} And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; {2:19} I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. {2:20} Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. {2:21} And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. {2:22} Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. {2:23} And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. {2:24} But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. {2:25} But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. {2:26} And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: {2:27} And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. {2:28} And I will give him the morning star. {2:29} He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
We notice some beautiful aspects in the messag of the archangel to the angel in charge of this powerful mindset. We often forget that this mindset, though unregulated is the most powerful of them all but it is divided and therefore never reaches its potential.
This mindset taps into the purity of the simple man’s search for a meaning satisfying enough to justify that he is a slave to a society he hardly understands. This is the man and woman who don’t bother to seek deeper meanings and even refute what he believes in order to connect dots; hence unable to see through the illusions of the one seeking to enslave his soul.
Here you find the man who opposes negative sentences and encourages you to speak positive yet he isn’t aware when he displays his inner anger and confusion; when he finds its outlet justifying the ones you’re allowed to judge.
